How To Ask For Anything
Are you afraid to ask for what you need to grow your business?

I get it. I’ve been there. I always thought that if I did great work, then people would automatically give me what I needed.

You’re in the right place if:

  • you freak out if you have to ask for anything
  • the whole concept of sales freaks you out
  • you hate to admit you need help

I am Barbara Bellissimo, a champion for women who are terrified of asking for what they want, and I’m here to help you transform your fear into courage. My insights have been featured in Forbes, Women’s Health, National Public Radio, and The New York Times. I’m also the bestselling author of Become Your Own Great and Powerful: A Woman’s Guide to Leading Your Real, Big Life.

My clients call me “highly skilled, experienced, a delight to work with” and “a sparkling member of the human race”.

Does this sound like you?

  • I want to grow my business. I know my product kicks ass. And I’m terrified of asking for the sale.

  • I’m looking for the perfect mentor (or business partner or client or whoever). And I have no idea where to start, let alone what to do when I find the right person.

  • I design my own graphics, answer my own email, make my own copies, [insert administrative/technical task here], which takes away from the more important work I could/should be doing. And if I ask for help in these areas, everyone will know I can’t hack it.

  • I can’t even ask because I’m terrified the answer will be “no”.

Ask for Anything Delivers!

  • An entire module–four juicy lessons–devoted to helping you make the ask without feeling sleazy, undeserving, or like you’re begging.

  • Two key lessons in Module 1 will give you the tools to conquer these Big-Ask Fears: “I Don’t Know Who to Ask”, “I’m Afraid to Ask People I Know”

  • You’ll learn about the Imposter Factor and why it’s so devastating to women entrepreneurs. Then you’ll learn how to confidently overcome it.

  • So what if the answer’s “no”? What if the answer’s “yes”? Module 3 will build your skills to deal with both.

Need More Specifics?

This course is designed to help you overcome each of the ten biggest fears women entrepreneurs have when they ask for anything. I’ve grouped these fears into three modules:

  • Fear of the Process
    • I Don’t Know Who to Ask
    • I Don’t Know How Much to Ask For
    • I’m Afraid to Ask People I Know
    • I’m Afraid I Don’t Have Enough/the Right Marketing Materials
  • Fear of the Great Imposter Reveal
    • I’m Not Very Convincing
    • I Don’t Deserve It
    • I Feel Like I’m Begging
    • I’ll Feel Like a Sleazy Salesperson
  • Fear of No
    • I’m Afraid of “No”
    • I’m Afraid of “Yes”

Each module starts with a brief intro video, describing what we’ll do in that particular module. Then, there’s a mini-lesson on each fear in the module. Each module will also include a downloads section, where you’ll find resource sheets for each mini-lesson, and other goodies. I’ve jam-packed each video with information, and none is longer than 6 minutes. Your time is valuable, and I want you to start fearlessly asking as soon as possible.

Module 1: Fear of the Process

In this module, we’ll tackle several issues you may have around the process of asking.

Do you have no idea who to ask?

Are you afraid to ask people you know?

Are you unsure of exactly what you should ask for?

We’ll work on these three Big Ask Fears, as well as making sure you have the right materials to support your ask.

Module 2: Fear of the Great Imposter Reveal

Imposter syndrome can be defined as a collection of feelings of inadequacy that persist even in face of information that indicates that the opposite is true. It is experienced internally as chronic self-doubt, and feelings of intellectual fraudulence.

Do you worry that you won’t sound convincing?

Do you think that asking will make you feel like you’re begging, or like a sleazy salesperson?

Each lesson in this module is focused on a Big-Ask Fear that you’ll be unmasked as an imposter.

Module 3: Fear of No

Are you worried about how you’ll handle a prospect saying “no” to your ask? Do you feel like you’ll be depressed and unable to handle the rejection?

Or, are you worried about how you’ll hand a prospect saying “yes”? Are you afraid—maybe subconsciously—that you won’t be able to deliver?

Or maybe you have both a fear of no and a fear of yes?

You’re not alone!! In fact, I STILL deal with fear of yes…and I’ll be sharing some of the things I do to conquer it.

And there’s more…

Meet Barbara

Years ago, I started a software company. Back in the dot-com boom. People should have been throwing money at me. I hired engineers, rented office space, built a web site. No money was coming in. I felt guilty about asking for what we were worth. I didn’t know who to ask, and I didn’t want to look like we were begging for money. Because I couldn’t get over these fears, I maxed out three credit cards and nearly got divorced. I swore to myself that this would never happen to me again.

And it hasn’t. Since that time, I’ve raised over $30M from public and private sources, I have a business I’m proud of, and I’ve been quoted in Forbes, The New York Times, BusinessWeek, and National Public Radio. I often wonder how much more I left on the table, since I didn’t tackle these issues earlier in my career.

Now I am a tireless champion for women entrepreneurs to fearlessly ask for what they want. My greatest work is in helping you clear out the junk that’s preventing you from being your most confident when you ask. All those issues around deserving, worthiness, and value that are so deeply seated and tough to get out from under. My gift is so much more than cheerleading–it’s reflecting my client’s power back to her in a way that she can see it, embrace it, and wear it comfortably.
